The Ambrosia features a contemporary design highlighting the bubbly grain pattern of ambrosia maple. The blues, grays and browns and the variegated shapes in ambrosia maple are incredible, and there are never two pieces exactly the same.
When I made the collage, the objects in the piece of ambrosia maple wood seemed like creatures from another world, like paramecium under a microscope. Anyway, for whatever reason, when I began creating the art, the word “ambrosia” popped into my head. So, that was it.
In addition to ambrosia maple, the work features the following hardwoods: Australian lacewood, English walnut, poplar, wenge, spalted maple and claro walnut.
