The box is created from Australian Lacewood, a highly figured exotic hardwood that looks almost bubbly. The top is made from cherry and features a variety of maples (sugar maple, ambrosia maple and spalted maple), cherry, walnut, poplar and pine.

The tiny blue piece was a remnant from a earlier project and brings a pop of color, like a bluebird on the wing in a sky of earth tones.
